Panama
Panamanian coffee is among the world's most prestigious and sought-after, particularly famous for producing the legendary Geisha variety that commands record-breaking prices at auctions. Grown in the highlands of Boquete, Volcán, and Renacimiento in the Chiriquí province, Panamanian coffee benefits from high altitudes, volcanic soil, cool mountain microclimates, and the unique Bajareque winds that create ideal conditions for exceptional bean development. While the country is relatively small in production volume, it focuses intensely on quality over quantity, producing almost exclusively premium Arabica beans.
Panamanian coffee, especially Geisha, is renowned for its extraordinary complexity, tea-like delicacy, and jasmine-like floral aromatics that are unmatched in the coffee world. The flavor profile typically features bright, refined acidity with a silky, elegant body and remarkable clarity showcasing notes of bergamot, jasmine, tropical fruits (like mango and papaya), stone fruits, citrus, and honey-like sweetness. Even non-Geisha Panamanian coffees exhibit exceptional quality with clean, complex profiles featuring chocolate, caramel, and vibrant fruit notes.
